15 imagesBeacon Of Hope is a non-profit organization in New Orleans that helps homeowners rebuild their homes by connecting them to volunteers. Volunteers come from all over the U.S. and around the world, including college students from Georgia, and families from New Jersey. No experience is required; just a willingness to help with manual work. A set of these photos was exhibited at The New Orleans Photo Alliance Gallery at 1111 St. Mary Street, New Orleans, on April 11, 2010.
31 imagesImages taken while volunteering with Samburu Conservation Research Initiative through Earthwatch in Wamba, Kenya. I took (a very small) part in two studies, one on cataloguing local medicinal plants, the other on testing regional water sources for contaminants, availability, and human-wildlife conflict. Wamba is a very remote town far from the beaten tourist path. It was a great privilege to go there, meet and spend time with the people there, and come home to tell their story.
