The Black Rhino has a reputation for being extremely aggressive. They attack out of fear, confusion, and panic, which occurs frequently due to their very poor eyesight. We watched for 20 minutes as this black rhino, apparently startled by a brief thunderstorm, ran towards us over no less than two kilometres across the plain of the crater. It came straight at the truck, then veered around us, jogged past us less than 20 yards away, then off into the distance without stopping. There are said to be only around 20 black rhinos living in the Ngorongoro Crater.
