The cheetah (from Hindi, meaning "spotted one") is a vulnerable species. Out of all the big cats, it is the least able to adapt to new environments, while also regarded as the most "primitive," having evolved the earliest. This is one of four or five cheetahs in Ngorongoro Conservation Area Caldera (or volcanic crater), hoping to scare a bird or scrub hare out of the bush.
